Eleven days from the Akan kingdoms of the east to Senoufo and Dan country, with nine ceremonies held in their own villages.
This is our most complete journey through Côte d’Ivoire: from the Akan kingdoms of the east to Senoufo country in the north and Dan country in the west. Nine ceremonies are arranged for your group: the Komian, the Akoukoubè, the Goli, the Boloye, the Wambelé masks, the fire-eaters of the Djinagoro, the Ngoron, the Guegbin stilt dancers and the Zaouli. And a meeting with the Dozo, the brotherhood of traditional hunters of the north.
None of this is staged for tourists. These are living ceremonies, held in their own villages, which we arrange in advance with chiefs, priests and families of initiates we know personally. Our guide takes care of the protocol, the greetings and the customary offerings.
Eleven days from landing in Abidjan to your flight home, with three nights in Korhogo to take Senoufo country at an unhurried pace.
The itinerary describes the Comfort option. Differences for the Essential option are shown on days 3, 6, 7 and 8.
Meet and greet outside the terminal, assistance with formalities and private transfer to your hotel. Briefing with your guide: the pace of the days, protocol in the villages, photography rules during ceremonies and practical advice.

Hotels for the Comfort option. Essential: Hôtel Détente in Abidjan and Royal Hotel in Yamoussoukro; all others unchanged.
Ceremonies, not shows. A death, a funeral or an initiation period takes precedence over visitors and can prevent a ceremony on the day. When that happens we replace it with another of equal standing, at no extra cost. The royal audience in Aniassué depends on the king being present; if it is not possible, a reception by the court takes its place.
Photography. Some rites may not be photographed. Your guide will tell you at every moment when it is allowed and when it is not.
Sacred places. The shrine of Aniassué, the lake of Sôkôtê and the sacred forest of Gboni are visited only with the permission of the community and the elders.
